Simon Pure is the name of a character in A Bold Stroke for a Wife (London, 1718), a comedy by the English poet, playwright and actress Susanna Centlivre (circa 1667-1723). In the play, the lead character disguises himself in his quest to secure his beloved's hand in marriage. He only succeeds in landing his wife after he drops the act, and reveals his authentic and genuine self. The phrase the (real) Simon Pure means the real or authentic person or thing in question; the adjective simon-pure means completely genuine, authentic or honest.
I loved this story about life, love, and the ridiculous lengths one goes in the pursuit of a special someone, so I feminized the esoteric literary phrase (Simon-Pure to Simone Pure) to express the essence of my photography style.
